The plot to Hero of the Rails is also really good. There are some angles used in the CGI that I find rather jarring at moments, but for Nitrogen's first full work with Thomas, it's pretty good. As well, I like the look of some of the settings, such as Hiro's Hideout and the Steamworks.

It's not perfect, as it was Nitrogen's first full CGI work with Thomas and Friends (yes, Season 12 had CGI, but this was the first full CGI work), but the models of the engines actually look really good, and a lot like their model series counterparts, plus they have better sizes and proportions that match the Railway Series a bit. In the end, after Hiro breaks up once again, Thomas decides to tell Sir Topham Hatt, and realizes he wouldn't get scrapped after all. The engines try to keep it a secret from Sir Topham Hatt, as they feel Hiro might get scrapped, however Spencer is attempting to find out what Thomas is doing, and when he does, he tries to tell Sir Topham Hatt about the engine, only to fail.
